At Watermelon English, we want everyone to have fun, learn, and feel respected. To help keep our classroom a great place to learn, we have a four-step warning system if you forget your homework, break the MELON Way, or are not ready to learn.
1. Be a Super Learner: Your Own Work, On Time!
🧠 Your Brainpower is Awesome! We want to see your amazing ideas and your hard work. That means:
- ✍️ No Copying: Don't copy answers from the internet, friends, or use AI tools to write for you
- . We want to see what you can do!
- 💯 Originality Check: We use a tool called Originality.AI to make sure everyone is doing their own, original work.
- 🙋 Ask for Help! If you're stuck or confused, please ask your teacher! We're here to help you learn. It's much better to ask for help than to copy.
- ✅ Honesty is Always the Best: Any student caught not doing their own original work will receive an official warning.
📝 Homework Happens (and Sometimes It's Late!)
- We know life gets busy, and sometimes homework might be late. That's okay! Just talk to your teacher and let them know what's going on.
- Here's what happens if homework is late without talking to your teacher:
- First Time: You'll get a friendly reminder from your teacher. No worries!
- Second Time: You'll get a "Green Card" 🟩. This is your first official warning.
- Third Time: You'll get a "Yellow Card" 🟨. This is a more serious warning, and we'll need your parents to sign it online, so they know what's happening.
- Fourth Time: You'll get a "Red Card" 🟥. Oh no! This means we need to have a serious meeting with you and your parents. We will have to say goodbye to you in the class, and we don't want that!
2. Be Present: Attendance, Cameras, Microphones, and Posture
- Be On Time & Ready! 🚀 Come to class on time, just like you would for a regular school day. Find a quiet spot where you can focus without distractions.
- Lights, Camera, Action! 🎬
- Cameras On, Please! 📷 We need to see your smiling faces! It helps us know you're ready to learn and lets us talk to each other like we would in a normal classroom.
- Camera Reminders: If your teacher has to ask you to turn your camera on, you will lose some participation points.
- Three Camera Reminders: If your teacher has to ask you three times in one lesson to turn on your camera, you will receive an official warning.
- Mic Check 1, 2, 3! 🎤
- Make Sure Your Microphone Works: We need to hear your awesome ideas! You'll be talking, answering questions, and reading aloud during the lesson, so a working microphone is super important.
- Speak Up! If your teacher calls on you and you don't answer, you will lose some participation points.
- Three Times No Answer: If you don't speak or participate three times in one lesson when someone calls your name, you'll receive an official warning.
- Tech Tip: Please check your microphone before class starts.
- Sit Up and Shine! 🪑
- Be Ready to Learn: Just like in a real classroom, we need you to sit up nicely at a desk or table. This helps you focus and participate.
- No Lying Down: Please don't lie down on your bed or the floor during class. It's important to be sitting up to pay attention.
- Posture Reminders: If your teacher notices you are not sitting up and ready to learn three times during the lesson, you will get a warning.
3. Raise Your Hand to Share
- One Voice at a Time: In our online classroom, it's important to listen to each other. Only one person can speak at a time so everyone can understand.
- Raise Your Hand: If you have something to say or a question to ask, please raise your virtual or real hand! This helps us keep the class organized and respectful.
- Listen to your teacher and classmates. Do not speak if someone else has been asked to speak, or is already speaking. 👂
4. Focus on Learning: No Games or Videos
- Learning Time is Important! During class, we need to focus on our lessons. That means:
- No Games: Please don't play computer games. 🎮❌
- No Videos: Please don't watch videos that aren't part of the lesson. 📺❌
- Consequences: If you're caught playing games or watching videos, you'll get a warning card, and we'll let your parents know.
5. English Only, Please!
- Let's Practice Our English! We're here to become amazing English speakers! That means trying our best to speak only English during the lesson.
- Points and Warnings: If you speak Vietnamese, you will lose some participation points. If you keep speaking Vietnamese after being reminded, you will receive a warning.

- Participation Points: Doing a great job means you'll earn lots of participation points! ⭐
- We're a Team: Remember, we're all here to learn and support each other. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to us, your teachers. We're here to help you succeed! 🤝
- Be Respectful: The most important rule of all is to be respectful to everyone in the class. ❤️
